Duo Alterno is a classical music duo consisting of Tiziana Scandaletti and Riccardo Piacentini. The duo was formed in 1997 and has since become one of the most renowned and respected classical music ensembles in the world. Tiziana Scandaletti was born in Rome, Italy, in 1963. She began studying piano at a young age and went on to earn a degree in piano performance from the Conservatory of Santa Cecilia in Rome. She also studied composition and conducting at the same institution. Riccardo Piacentini was born in Florence, Italy, in 1960. He began studying guitar at the age of 10 and went on to earn a degree in guitar performance from the Conservatory of Florence. He also studied composition and conducting at the same institution. The two musicians met in 1995 and began performing together shortly thereafter. They quickly discovered a shared passion for contemporary classical music and began commissioning new works from composers around the world. Their dedication to new music has become a hallmark of their career, and they have premiered over 200 new works to date. Duo Alterno has performed in some of the most prestigious concert halls in the world, including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the Teatro alla Scala in Milan.
