He was born on August 10, 1952, in the city of Kharkiv, Ukraine. Sirenko's parents were both musicians, and they encouraged him to pursue a career in music from a young age. Sirenko began his musical education at the Kharkiv Special Music School, where he studied piano under the guidance of Professor L. Kogan. He later continued his studies at the Kharkiv Conservatory, where he studied conducting with Professor A. Klimov and piano with Professor V. Merzhanov. In 1975, Sirenko won first prize at the All-Union Conducting Competition in Moscow, which marked the beginning of his successful career as a conductor. He went on to become the principal conductor of the Kharkiv Philharmonic Orchestra in 1978, a position he held for over a decade. Sirenko's talent as a conductor was soon recognized beyond Ukraine, and he was invited to conduct orchestras in Russia, Belarus, and other countries in the former Soviet Union. In 1989, he made his debut with the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra, which was followed by performances with the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, the Russian National Orchestra, and the Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra. Sirenko's international career took off in the 1990s, and he began to conduct orchestras in Europe, Asia, and North America. He has worked with many prestigious orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Berlin Symphony Orchestra, the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra, the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, and the New York Philharmonic Orchestra. Sirenko has also been a frequent guest conductor at major music festivals, such as the Salzburg Festival, the Edinburgh International Festival, the BBC Proms, and the Prague Spring Festival. He has collaborated with many renowned soloists, including Vadim Repin, Maxim Vengerov, Nikolai Lugansky, and Denis Matsuev. In addition to his work as a conductor, Sirenko is also an accomplished pianist. He has performed as a soloist with many orchestras, and he has recorded several albums of piano music. His repertoire includes works by Beethoven, Chopin, Liszt, Rachmaninoff, and Prokofiev. Sirenko has received numerous awards and honors for his contributions to classical music. He has also been awarded the Order of Friendship by the President of Russia and the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette, by the Emperor of Japan.
