Mastrototaro's musical education began at the Conservatory of Music in Bari, where he studied under the guidance of Professor Maria Teresa Carunchio. He later continued his studies at the Conservatory of Music in Milan, where he studied with Professor Pier Narciso Masi. During his time in Milan, Mastrototaro also had the opportunity to study with renowned pianists such as Boris Petrushansky, Andrea Lucchesini, and Benedetto Lupo. In 2004, he won first prize at the International Piano Competition "Città di Barletta," and in 2005, he won first prize at the International Piano Competition "Città di Cantù." In 2006, Mastrototaro made his debut as a soloist with the Orchestra Sinfonica di Sanremo, performing Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 3.
