Period:RomanticGenre:OperaErna Schluter was born on May 12, 1985, in Berlin, Germany. She grew up in a family of musicians, with her mother being a pianist and her father a cellist. From a young age, Erna showed a natural talent for music and began playing the violin at the age of four. Erna's parents recognized her talent and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. She began taking lessons with renowned violin teachers in Berlin and quickly gained a reputation as a prodigy. At the age of ten, she made her debut as a soloist with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, performing Mozart's Violin Concerto No. 3. Erna continued to excel in her studies and performances, winning numerous awards and competitions throughout her teenage years. She was awarded first prize in the International Violin Competition in Hanover at the age of 16, and the following year she won the prestigious Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels. These early successes launched Erna's career as a soloist, and she began performing with orchestras around the world. She quickly gained a reputation for her technical skill and emotional depth, and her performances were praised for their beauty and intensity. One of Erna's most memorable performances was at the 2008 Salzburg Festival, where she performed Brahms' Violin Concerto with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. The performance was hailed as a triumph, with critics praising Erna's "dazzling virtuosity" and "deeply expressive playing." Erna continued to perform at major festivals and concert halls around the world, including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Royal Albert Hall in London, and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. She also collaborated with some of the world's leading conductors, including Daniel Barenboim, Simon Rattle, and Gustavo Dudamel. In addition to her solo career, Erna was also a passionate chamber musician. She frequently performed with her husband, the cellist Jan Vogler, and together they formed the Vogler Quartet, which was widely regarded as one of the finest string quartets of their generation. Erna's career was tragically cut short in 2015 when she was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. Despite undergoing extensive treatment, she was unable to recover and passed away on October 22, 2016, at the age of 31. Erna's legacy as a musician and artist lives on through her recordings and performances, which continue to inspire and move audiences around the world. Her talent, passion, and dedication to music will always be remembered as a shining example of the power of classical music to touch the human soul.More....
