Gli Incogniti is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2006 by Amandine Beyer, a French violinist. The group is known for its performances of Baroque and Classical music, and has gained a reputation for its innovative and dynamic interpretations of these genres. Amandine Beyer was born in 1974 in France, and began playing the violin at a young age. She studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, and later at the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg in Germany. Beyer has performed with many of the world's leading orchestras and ensembles, and has recorded extensively as a soloist and chamber musician. In 2006, Beyer founded Gli Incogniti, which translates to "The Unknowns" in Italian. The ensemble is made up of a core group of musicians, including Beyer on violin, Baldomero Barciela on cello, and Anna Fontana on harpsichord. The group also collaborates with a number of guest musicians, depending on the repertoire being performed. Gli Incogniti's repertoire focuses primarily on Baroque and Classical music, with a particular emphasis on the works of Antonio Vivaldi. The group has recorded several albums of Vivaldi's music, including "Vivaldi: Concerti per violino IV" and "Vivaldi: Concerti per violino V". In addition to Vivaldi, Gli Incogniti has also performed and recorded works by other Baroque and Classical composers, such as Johann Sebastian Bach, George Frideric Handel, and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. One of Gli Incogniti's most notable performances was at the 2012 Salzburg Festival, where they performed Vivaldi's "Four Seasons" with the renowned mezzo-soprano Cecilia Bartoli. The performance was widely praised for its energy and virtuosity, and was later released as a live recording. Gli Incogniti has also received critical acclaim for their recordings. In 2010, the group's album "Vivaldi: Concerti per violino IV" was awarded the Diapason d'Or, one of the most prestigious awards in classical music. The album was praised for its "sparkling virtuosity" and "impeccable ensemble playing". In addition to their performances and recordings, Gli Incogniti is also committed to education and outreach. The group regularly conducts workshops and masterclasses for young musicians, and has worked with organizations such as the European Union Baroque Orchestra and the Orchestre des Jeunes de la Méditerranée.
