Philippe Cassard is a renowned French classical pianist, musicologist, and writer. He was born on June 17, 1962, in Paris, France. Cassard grew up in a family of music lovers, and his parents encouraged him to pursue his passion for music. He began playing the piano at the age of six and showed exceptional talent from an early age. Cassard studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, where he was a student of Dominique Merlet and Geneviève Joy-Dutilleux. Cassard is known for his interpretations of the works of French composers, particularly Claude Debussy and Gabriel Fauré. He has recorded several albums of their music, including a complete recording of Debussy's piano works. He has also recorded the complete piano works of Schumann and Brahms. In addition to his career as a pianist, Cassard is also a musicologist and writer. He has written several books on music, including biographies of Schumann and Fauré.
