Born on December 23, 1985, in Tel Aviv, Israel, Yoel showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of four. His parents, both musicians, recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue a career in music. Yoel's musical education began at the age of six when he enrolled in the Tel Aviv Conservatory. He studied piano with Prof. Arie Vardi, one of Israel's most prominent pianists and teachers. Yoel's talent was evident from an early age, and he quickly became known for his exceptional musical abilities. He won his first piano competition at the age of nine and went on to win numerous other competitions throughout his childhood and teenage years. In 2001, Yoel moved to Germany to continue his musical education at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin. He studied piano with Prof. Fabio Bidini and conducting with Prof. Christian Ehwald. Yoel's time in Berlin was a turning point in his career, as he began to focus more on conducting and composition. He conducted his first orchestra at the age of 16 and began composing his own music shortly thereafter. After completing his studies in Berlin, Yoel moved to Switzerland to continue his education at the Zurich University of the Arts. He studied conducting with Prof. Johannes Schlaefli and composition with Prof. Dieter Ammann. Yoel's time in Switzerland was marked by numerous successes, including winning the prestigious Migros Culture Percentage Composition Prize in 2009. Yoel's career as a conductor began to take off in the early 2010s. He was appointed as the principal conductor of the Berlin Symphony Orchestra in 2011, a position he held until 2014. During his time with the orchestra, Yoel conducted numerous concerts and recordings, including a critically acclaimed recording of Mahler's Symphony No. 5. In 2014, Yoel was appointed as the principal conductor of the St. Petersburg State Symphony Orchestra, one of Russia's most prestigious orchestras. He held this position until 2017 and conducted numerous concerts and recordings with the orchestra. One of the highlights of his time with the St. Petersburg State Symphony Orchestra was a performance of Mahler's Symphony No. 2, which was broadcast live on Russian television and received widespread critical acclaim. In addition to his work as a conductor, Yoel is also an accomplished composer. He has written numerous works for orchestra, chamber ensemble, and solo instruments. His music has been performed by orchestras and ensembles around the world, including the Berlin Symphony Orchestra, the St. Petersburg State Symphony Orchestra, and the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. Yoel's talent and hard work have been recognized with numerous awards and honors throughout his career. In 2010, he was awarded the Kranichstein Music Prize, one of the most prestigious awards for young composers in Germany. In 2012, he was awarded the Leonard Bernstein Award for Excellence in Conducting, an award that recognizes outstanding young conductors from around the world. In 2016, he was awarded the Golden Mask, Russia's most prestigious theater award, for his work as a conductor.
