Audun Iversen is a Norwegian baritone who has established himself as one of the most sought-after classical music artists of his generation. Born on May 10, 1977, in Oslo, Norway, Iversen grew up in a family of musicians. His father was a jazz pianist, and his mother was a classical pianist. From a young age, Iversen showed a keen interest in music and began taking piano lessons at the age of six. As a teenager, Iversen discovered his love for singing and began taking voice lessons. He studied at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo, where he received his Bachelor's degree in 2002. He then went on to study at the Royal Danish Opera Academy in Copenhagen, where he received his Master's degree in 2005. Iversen's career as a professional opera singer began in 2005 when he made his debut at the Norwegian National Opera in the role of Schaunard in Puccini's La bohème. Since then, he has performed in some of the world's most prestigious opera houses, including the Royal Opera House in London, the Metropolitan Opera in New York, and the Paris Opera. One of Iversen's most notable performances was his portrayal of the title role in Mozart's Don Giovanni at the Royal Opera House in London in 2014. The production was directed by Kasper Holten and conducted by Nicola Luisotti. Iversen's performance was widely praised by critics, who described him as "a charismatic and vocally commanding Don Giovanni." In addition to his opera performances, Iversen is also a highly sought-after concert singer. He has performed with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the New York Philharmonic. He has also collaborated with some of the world's most renowned conductors, including Sir Simon Rattle, Daniel Barenboim, and Gustavo Dudamel. Iversen has received numerous awards and accolades throughout his career. In 2008, he was awarded the Kirsten Flagstad Prize, which is awarded annually to a Norwegian singer who has made a significant contribution to the world of opera. In 2012, he was awarded the Statoil Talent Prize, which is awarded to young Norwegian artists who show exceptional talent and promise. In addition to his performing career, Iversen is also a dedicated teacher and mentor. He has taught masterclasses at the Norwegian Academy of Music and the Royal Danish Opera Academy, and he is a regular guest teacher at the Royal Opera House's Jette Parker Young Artists Programme. Iversen is known for his powerful and expressive voice, his charismatic stage presence, and his ability to bring depth and nuance to his performances.
