Sholto Kynoch is a British classical music artist who has made a name for himself as a pianist, accompanist, and artistic director. Born in 1979 in Oxford, England, Kynoch showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of five. He went on to study music at the University of Oxford, where he earned a degree in musicology. After completing his studies, Kynoch began to establish himself as a pianist and accompanist, performing in concerts and recitals throughout the UK and Europe. He quickly gained a reputation for his sensitive and expressive playing, and his ability to work well with other musicians. One of Kynoch's early highlights as a musician was his performance at the 2003 Oxford Lieder Festival, where he accompanied the renowned soprano Felicity Lott. The performance was a great success, and Kynoch was praised for his sensitive and nuanced playing. In the years that followed, Kynoch continued to perform in concerts and recitals, both as a soloist and as an accompanist. He also began to take on more roles as an artistic director, organizing concerts and festivals and working to promote classical music to a wider audience. One of Kynoch's most notable achievements as an artistic director was the founding of the Oxford Lieder Festival, which he established in 2002. The festival quickly became one of the UK's leading classical music events, attracting some of the world's most renowned musicians and singers. Kynoch's work as an artistic director has also included collaborations with other organizations, such as the Wigmore Hall in London and the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden. He has also worked with a number of leading musicians and singers, including Ian Bostridge, Sarah Connolly, and Mark Padmore. In addition to his work as a performer and artistic director, Kynoch has also been recognized for his contributions to classical music. In 2013, he was awarded the Oxford University Music Society's prestigious Distinguished Musician Award, in recognition of his outstanding achievements in the field of classical music.
