Xenia Jankovic is a renowned cellist and music educator who has made significant contributions to the world of classical music. Born on August 22, 1955, in Belgrade, Serbia, Jankovic began playing the cello at the age of six. Her father, a cellist himself, recognized her talent and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. Jankovic received her early music education at the Music School in Belgrade, where she studied with Professor Mica Popovic. She continued her studies at the Moscow Conservatory with Professor Natalia Shakhovskaya, one of the most prominent cellists of the 20th century. Jankovic also studied with other renowned cellists, including Mstislav Rostropovich, Heinrich Schiff, and Yo-Yo Ma. Jankovic's talent and dedication to music quickly became evident, and she began to receive recognition for her performances. In 1977, she won first prize at the Yugoslav National Cello Competition, and in 1981, she won the prestigious Tchaikovsky International Competition in Moscow.
