Role:Conductor PerformerGarry Walker is a renowned classical music conductor and pianist, known for his dynamic and expressive performances. Born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1964, Walker showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of five. He went on to study at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, where he received a degree in piano performance. After completing his studies, Walker began his career as a pianist, performing in concerts and recitals throughout Scotland and the UK. However, he soon discovered a passion for conducting and began to focus his efforts on this area of music. In 1994, Walker was appointed as the assistant conductor of the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, where he worked under the guidance of renowned conductor Jerzy Maksymiuk. During his time with the orchestra, Walker gained valuable experience and honed his skills as a conductor. In 1999, Walker was appointed as the principal conductor of the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, a position he held for six years. During his tenure, he led the orchestra in a number of acclaimed performances, including a critically acclaimed recording of the complete symphonies of Felix Mendelssohn. In 2005, Walker was appointed as the principal conductor of the Paragon Ensemble, a contemporary music ensemble based in Glasgow.
