Kory Katseanes is a renowned conductor and music educator who has made significant contributions to the world of classical music. Born on August 22, 1957, in Salt Lake City, Utah, Katseanes grew up in a family of musicians. His father was a professional trumpet player, and his mother was a pianist. From a young age, Katseanes showed a keen interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of five. Katseanes attended Brigham Young University (BYU) in Provo, Utah, where he earned a Bachelor of Music degree in piano performance. He then went on to pursue a Master of Music degree in orchestral conducting at the University of Utah. During his time at the University of Utah, Katseanes studied under the renowned conductor Maurice Abravanel, who had a significant influence on his career. After completing his studies, Katseanes began his career as a conductor, serving as the assistant conductor of the Utah Symphony Orchestra from 1983 to 1986. He then went on to serve as the music director of the Utah Valley Symphony from 1986 to 1992. During his tenure with the Utah Valley Symphony, Katseanes gained a reputation as a talented and innovative conductor, and his performances were well-received by audiences and critics alike. In 1992, Katseanes was appointed as the music director of the Boise Philharmonic Orchestra in Boise, Idaho.
