The Brno Janacek Opera Chorus & Orchestra is a classical music ensemble based in Brno, Czech Republic. The ensemble was founded in 1956 by the renowned Czech conductor Frantisek Jilek, who served as its artistic director until 1971. Since then, the ensemble has been led by a number of distinguished conductors, including Jiri Pinkas, Petr Vronsky, and Marko Ivanovic. The Brno Janacek Opera Chorus & Orchestra is named after the famous Czech composer Leos Janacek, who was born in Brno in 1854. Janacek is widely regarded as one of the most important composers of the 20th century, and his music has had a profound influence on the development of Czech classical music. The ensemble is made up of a chorus and an orchestra, both of which are composed of highly skilled musicians.
