Ruth Ann Swenson is a renowned American soprano who has made a significant contribution to the world of classical music. Born on November 25, 1947, in Bronxville, New York, Swenson grew up in Sacramento, California. Her parents were both musicians, and her father was a choir director. Swenson's love for music was evident from a young age, and she began singing in her father's choir when she was just five years old. Swenson's talent was recognized early on, and she began studying voice at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California. She later transferred to California State University, Sacramento, where she earned a Bachelor of Music degree. Swenson continued her studies at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where she received a Master of Music degree. Swenson's career as a professional opera singer began in 1979 when she made her debut with the San Francisco Opera as Susanna in Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro. Her performance was well-received, and she quickly became a sought-after performer.
