Giles Tomkins is a Canadian bass-baritone opera singer who has made a name for himself in the classical music world. Born in Toronto, Canada, on August 22, 1979, Tomkins grew up in a musical family. His father was a professional trumpet player, and his mother was a music teacher. From a young age, Tomkins was exposed to a wide variety of music, and he quickly developed a love for classical music. Tomkins began his formal music education at the University of Toronto, where he studied voice and opera. He quickly distinguished himself as a talented singer, and he was soon performing in operas and concerts throughout Canada. In 2003, he won the prestigious Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, which helped to launch his career on the international stage.
