After completing her undergraduate studies, she went on to earn a master's degree in choral conducting from the University of Illinois. In 1990, Menk became the director of choral activities at Saint Joseph's College in Rensselaer, Indiana. She has conducted the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, the South Bend Symphony Orchestra, and the Northwest Indiana Symphony Orchestra. She has written numerous choral works, including "Ave Maria," "O Magnum Mysterium," and "The Lord Bless You and Keep You."
