Trio Zimmermann is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2007. The ensemble is named after the famous German violist Tabea Zimmermann, who is one of its founding members. The other two members of the ensemble are violinist Frank Peter Zimmermann and cellist Christian Poltéra. Tabea Zimmermann is a renowned violist who has won numerous awards and accolades throughout her career. She has performed with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the New York Philharmonic. She has also recorded extensively, with over 50 albums to her name. Frank Peter Zimmermann is a highly respected violinist who has won many awards for his performances and recordings. He has performed with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the Vienna Philharmonic, and the New York Philharmonic. He has also recorded extensively, with over 100 albums to his name. Christian Poltéra is a Swiss cellist who has won many awards for his performances and recordings. He has performed with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, and the Boston Symphony Orchestra. He has also recorded extensively, with over 30 albums to his name. The three musicians first met in 2006, when they were all performing at the Lockenhaus Chamber Music Festival in Austria. They quickly discovered a shared passion for chamber music and decided to form an ensemble together. They named the ensemble Trio Zimmermann in honor of Tabea Zimmermann. Since its founding, Trio Zimmermann has become one of the most highly regarded chamber music ensembles in the world. The ensemble has performed at many of the world's leading concert halls, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the Wigmore Hall in London, and Carnegie Hall in New York. They have also performed at many of the world's leading music festivals, including the Salzburg Festival, the Edinburgh International Festival, and the BBC Proms. Trio Zimmermann has also won many awards for their performances and recordings. In 2009, they won the Echo Klassik award for their recording of Schubert's String Trio in B-flat Major. They have also been nominated for several Grammy Awards, including Best Chamber Music Performance and Best Classical Instrumental Solo. One of the highlights of Trio Zimmermann's career was their performance of Beethoven's String Trio in C Minor at the Berlin Philharmonic in 2010. The performance was widely praised by critics and audiences alike, and cemented Trio Zimmermann's reputation as one of the world's leading chamber music ensembles. Another highlight of Trio Zimmermann's career was their performance of Mozart's Divertimento in E-flat Major at the Edinburgh International Festival in 2012.
