He quickly established himself as one of the top bandoneon players in the city and began performing with some of the most prominent musicians in the world of classical music. In addition to his work as a performer, del Curto is also a prolific composer. He has written music for film, television, and theater, as well as for his own recordings. Del Curto's compositions are heavily influenced by the tango music of his native Argentina, as well as by classical music and jazz.
