Nicholas Goluses is a renowned classical guitarist and music educator who has made significant contributions to the world of classical music. He was born on August 23, 1959, in New York City, United States. From a young age, Goluses showed a keen interest in music, and he began playing the guitar at the age of nine. He was inspired by his father, who was a jazz guitarist, and his mother, who was a classical pianist. Goluses received his early music education at the Manhattan School of Music, where he studied with Albert Valdes Blain. He later went on to study at the Eastman School of Music, where he earned his Bachelor of Music degree in 1981. He continued his studies at the University of Arizona, where he earned his Master of Music degree in 1983 and his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in 1986. Throughout his career, Goluses has performed extensively as a soloist and chamber musician. He has performed in major concert halls around the world, including Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and the Royal Albert Hall. He has also performed with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and the London Symphony Orchestra. Goluses has recorded numerous albums throughout his career, including his critically acclaimed album, "The Segovia Style," which was released in 1995. He has also recorded works by many of the world's leading composers, including Bach, Beethoven, and Mozart. In addition to his performing career, Goluses is also a highly respected music educator. He has taught at many of the world's leading music schools, including the Eastman School of Music, the University of Arizona, and the University of Rochester. He is currently a professor of guitar at the Eastman School of Music, where he has been on the faculty since 1985. Goluses has received numerous awards and honors throughout his career. In 1986, he was awarded the prestigious Fulbright Scholarship, which allowed him to study with the renowned Spanish guitarist, Andres Segovia.
