The St. Christopher Chamber Orchestra, Vilnius is a renowned classical music ensemble that has been captivating audiences with its exceptional performances for over three decades. Founded in 1995, the orchestra has become one of the most respected and sought-after ensembles in Lithuania and beyond. The orchestra was founded by Donatas Katkus, a prominent Lithuanian conductor and violinist, who also serves as its artistic director. The ensemble was named after St. Christopher, the patron saint of travelers, as a tribute to the orchestra's mission to take its music to audiences around the world. The St. Christopher Chamber Orchestra, Vilnius comprises some of the finest musicians in Lithuania, many of whom are also members of the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra. The orchestra's core members include violinists Raimondas Katilius, Rasa Vosyliute, and Dalia Kuznecovaite, violist Raimondas Sviackevicius, cellist Raminta Lampsatis, and double bassist Darius Rudis. Over the years, the St. Christopher Chamber Orchestra, Vilnius has performed in some of the most prestigious concert halls and festivals around the world. The orchestra has collaborated with many renowned soloists, including violinists Gidon Kremer and Vadim Gluzman, cellist David Geringas, and pianist Alexei Lubimov. One of the highlights of the orchestra's career was its performance at the 2006 BBC Proms in London, where it received critical acclaim for its interpretation of works by Mozart, Haydn, and Lithuanian composer Bronius Kutavicius. The orchestra has also performed at the Salzburg Festival, the Edinburgh International Festival, and the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, among others.
