Born on December 8, 1974, in Vilnius, Lithuania, Rachlin began playing the violin at the age of three. His parents, both musicians, recognized his talent early on and encouraged him to pursue a career in music. At the age of six, Rachlin made his debut as a soloist with the Vilnius Philharmonic Orchestra. He continued to perform throughout his childhood and adolescence, winning numerous competitions and awards along the way. In 1988, at the age of 13, he became the youngest soloist ever to perform with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. Rachlin's talent and dedication to his craft led him to study at some of the world's most prestigious music schools. He attended the Juilliard School in New York City, where he studied with Dorothy DeLay and Itzhak Perlman. He also studied with Pinchas Zukerman at the Manhattan School of Music and with Boris Kuschnir at the Vienna Conservatory. Throughout his career, Rachlin has performed with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the New York Philharmonic. He has also collaborated with many of the world's most renowned conductors, including Claudio Abbado, Daniel Barenboim, and Zubin Mehta. In addition to his work as a violinist and violist, Rachlin has also established himself as a conductor. He has conducted many of the world's leading orchestras, including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, and the Orchestra dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia. Rachlin's performances have been widely praised for their technical brilliance and emotional depth. He has been described as a "virtuoso of the highest order" and a "musician of great sensitivity and intelligence."
