Omega Ensemble is a classical music ensemble based in Sydney, Australia. The ensemble was founded in 2005 by clarinetist David Rowden and pianist Maria Raspopova. The group has since grown to include a core group of musicians, including violinist Anna Da Silva Chen, cellist Paul Stender, and violist Neil Thompson. The ensemble's mission is to bring together musicians from diverse backgrounds to create innovative and engaging performances of classical music. They have performed in a variety of venues, from small intimate spaces to large concert halls, and have collaborated with a range of artists, including dancers, actors, and visual artists. One of the highlights of Omega Ensemble's career was their performance at the 2018 Sydney Festival. The ensemble performed a program of works by Mozart, Brahms, and Australian composer Elena Kats-Chernin. The performance was praised for its energy and virtuosity, and was a testament to the ensemble's commitment to bringing classical music to new audiences. Omega Ensemble has also been recognized for their recordings. In 2017, they released their debut album, "Brahms and the Clarinet," which was nominated for an ARIA Award for Best Classical Album. The album features works by Brahms, as well as a new arrangement of a traditional Bulgarian folk song. In addition to their performances and recordings, Omega Ensemble is committed to education and outreach. They offer workshops and masterclasses for young musicians, and have collaborated with schools and community organizations to bring classical music to underserved communities. Overall, Omega Ensemble is a dynamic and innovative ensemble that is dedicated to bringing classical music to new audiences. With their virtuosic performances, innovative programming, and commitment to education and outreach, they are sure to continue making an impact in the world of classical music for years to come.More....
