His father was a renowned cellist, and his mother was a pianist. From a young age, Jaroslav was exposed to classical music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Jaroslav's parents recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue a career in music. He began taking piano lessons with his mother and quickly showed a natural aptitude for the instrument. By the age of ten, he had already won several local piano competitions and was performing in public regularly. In 1996, Jaroslav was accepted into the Prague Conservatory, where he studied under the tutelage of renowned pianist and pedagogue, Ivan Moravec. During his time at the conservatory, Jaroslav honed his skills and developed a deep understanding of classical music. He also began to perform in concerts and recitals, gaining recognition for his technical proficiency and musicality. After graduating from the conservatory, Jaroslav continued his studies at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, where he earned a master's degree in piano performance. During this time, he also participated in several international piano competitions, winning top prizes in the Prague Spring International Music Competition and the International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw. Jaroslav's career as a professional pianist took off after he won the prestigious Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in 2009. The competition, held every four years in Fort Worth, Texas, is one of the most prestigious piano competitions in the world. Jaroslav's performance of Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 3 in D minor, Op. 30, was hailed as a triumph, and he was awarded the gold medal. Following his victory at the Van Cliburn Competition, Jaroslav began to receive invitations to perform with major orchestras and conductors around the world. He has performed with the New York Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the Vienna Philharmonic, among others. He has also collaborated with some of the world's most renowned conductors, including Valery Gergiev, Daniel Barenboim, and Simon Rattle. Jaroslav's repertoire is vast and includes works by Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Liszt, Rachmaninoff, and many others. He is particularly known for his interpretations of the works of Czech composers, such as Dvorak, Smetana, and Janacek. His recordings of these composers' works have received critical acclaim and have helped to bring their music to a wider audience. In addition to his performing career, Jaroslav is also a dedicated teacher. He has taught masterclasses at the Juilliard School, the Royal Academy of Music in London, and the Conservatoire de Paris, among others. He is also a faculty member at the Prague Conservatory, where he teaches a select group of students. Throughout his career, Jaroslav has received numerous awards and honors. In addition to his victory at the Van Cliburn Competition, he has been awarded the Order of Merit by the Czech Republic and the Medal of Honor by the Slovak Republic.
