Role:ConductorBirth:January 7, 1989 in Tel Aviv, IsraelLahav Shani is a renowned classical music artist who has made a name for himself as a conductor and pianist. Born on June 7, 1989, in Tel Aviv, Israel, Shani showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of six. He was born into a family of musicians, with his father being a cellist and his mother a pianist. This early exposure to music helped shape his passion for the art form and set him on a path towards a successful career in classical music. Shani's musical education began at the age of nine when he was accepted into the Young Musicians Program at the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music at Tel Aviv University. He continued his studies there until the age of 18, during which time he also studied conducting with Mendi Rodan. In 2007, Shani was awarded the America-Israel Cultural Foundation Scholarship, which allowed him to continue his studies at the Hanns Eisler School of Music in Berlin, Germany. During his time in Berlin, Shani studied piano with Fabio Bidini and conducting with Christian Ehwald. He also had the opportunity to work with renowned conductors such as Daniel Barenboim and Sir Simon Rattle. In 2010, Shani won first prize in the Gustav Mahler International Conducting Competition in Bamberg, Germany, which helped launch his career as a conductor. Shani's career as a conductor began to take off in 2013 when he was appointed as the assistant conductor of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra. He quickly gained recognition for his talent and was appointed as the orchestra's principal guest conductor in 2015. In 2017, Shani was appointed as the chief conductor of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, becoming the youngest conductor to hold the position in the orchestra's history. As a conductor, Shani has worked with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the Vienna Philharmonic, and the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. He has also conducted at some of the world's most prestigious music festivals, including the Salzburg Festival and the BBC Proms. In addition to his work as a conductor, Shani is also an accomplished pianist. He has performed as a soloist with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the London Symphony Orchestra. He has also performed in recitals and chamber music concerts around the world. One of the highlights of Shani's career as a pianist was his performance of Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 4 with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra in 2016. The performance was widely praised by critics, with The Jerusalem Post describing Shani's playing as "brilliant and sensitive." Shani has received numerous awards and accolades throughout his career. In addition to his win at the Gustav Mahler International Conducting Competition, he has also been awarded the Leonard Bernstein Award from the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival and the Young Artist Award from the Israel Cultural Excellence Foundation. In 2018, Shani was appointed as the chief conductor of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, becoming the youngest conductor to hold the position in the orchestra's history. He has since led the orchestra on tours around the world, including to Europe, Asia, and the United States. Shani's talent and passion for classical music have made him one of the most exciting and sought-after conductors and pianists of his generation.More....
