Some of his most notable compositions include "Migrations" for orchestra, "The Time of the Singing of Birds" for choir and orchestra, and "Isle of Bliss" for string quartet. It was later performed at the Savonlinna Opera Festival and the Estonian National Opera. In addition to his work as a composer and conductor, Kortekangas has also been active as a teacher and mentor.
