Reginald L. Mobley is a renowned countertenor and one of the most sought-after classical music artists of his generation. Born on October 30, 1976, in St. Petersburg, Florida, Mobley grew up in a family of musicians and was exposed to music from an early age. His mother was a gospel singer, and his father played the guitar and sang in a barbershop quartet. Mobley's love for music was evident from a young age, and he began singing in church choirs and school musicals. Mobley's talent was recognized early on, and he was awarded a scholarship to attend the Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan. He went on to study at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, where he received a Bachelor of Music degree in voice performance. He later earned a Master of Music degree from the University of Maryland. Mobley's career as a professional musician began in 2001 when he joined the internationally acclaimed vocal ensemble Chanticleer. He spent six years with the group, performing in some of the world's most prestigious concert halls and collaborating with renowned conductors and composers. He has also collaborated with some of the most respected conductors in the classical music world, including Nicholas McGegan, Harry Bicket, and Matthew Halls. Mobley's repertoire is diverse, ranging from Baroque and Renaissance music to contemporary works. He is particularly known for his interpretations of Handel's operas and oratorios, and has been praised for his ability to bring a fresh perspective to these well-known works. He has also premiered several new works by contemporary composers, including Nico Muhly and Caroline Shaw.
