Born on October 30, 1976, in St. Petersburg, Florida, Mobley grew up in a family of musicians and was exposed to music from an early age. His mother was a gospel singer, and his father played the guitar and sang in a barbershop quartet. Mobley's love for music was evident from a young age, and he began singing in church choirs and school musicals. Mobley's talent was recognized early on, and he was awarded a scholarship to attend the Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan. He went on to study at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, where he received a Bachelor of Music degree in voice performance. He later earned a Master of Music degree from the University of Maryland. Mobley's career as a professional musician began in 2001 when he joined the internationally acclaimed vocal ensemble Chanticleer. He spent six years with the group, performing in some of the world's most prestigious concert halls and collaborating with renowned conductors and composers. During his time with Chanticleer, Mobley developed a reputation as one of the finest countertenors of his generation, known for his rich, warm tone and impeccable technique. In 2007, Mobley left Chanticleer to pursue a solo career. He quickly established himself as a sought-after performer, appearing with some of the world's leading orchestras and opera companies. He has performed at the Kennedy Center, Carnegie Hall, and the Lincoln Center, among other prestigious venues. He has also collaborated with some of the most respected conductors in the classical music world, including Nicholas McGegan, Harry Bicket, and Matthew Halls. Mobley's repertoire is diverse, ranging from Baroque and Renaissance music to contemporary works. He is particularly known for his interpretations of Handel's operas and oratorios, and has been praised for his ability to bring a fresh perspective to these well-known works. He has also premiered several new works by contemporary composers, including Nico Muhly and Caroline Shaw. In addition to his work as a performer, Mobley is also a passionate advocate for music education. He has worked with several organizations to promote music education in schools and communities, and has served as a mentor to young musicians. He is also a frequent guest lecturer and has given masterclasses at several universities and conservatories. Mobley's talent and dedication have been recognized with several awards and honors. In 2012, he was named a Rising Star by the Seattle Times, and in 2013 he was awarded the prestigious Handel Medallion by the City of New York. He has also been a recipient of the Richard F.
