He grew up in a family of musicians, with his father being a renowned pianist and his mother a violinist. From a young age, Philip showed a keen interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Philip's parents recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue a career in music. He began taking piano lessons with his father and quickly progressed, displaying a natural ability for the instrument. By the age of ten, Philip had already won several local piano competitions and was gaining recognition as a prodigious young talent. In 1997, at the age of twelve, Philip was accepted into the prestigious Royal Conservatory of Brussels, where he studied under the tutelage of renowned pianist and pedagogue, Jean-Claude Vanden Eynden. Under Vanden Eynden's guidance, Philip's technique and musicality flourished, and he began to develop his own unique style. In 2003, Philip graduated from the Royal Conservatory with top honors and was awarded a scholarship to study at the Juilliard School in New York City. At Juilliard, Philip studied with the legendary pianist and teacher, Emanuel Ax, and continued to refine his technique and artistry. During his time at Juilliard, Philip began to gain recognition as a rising star in the classical music world. He won several prestigious competitions, including the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition and the International Tchaikovsky Competition, and was invited to perform with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic and the Berlin Philharmonic. In 2008, Philip made his debut at Carnegie Hall, performing Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5 with the New York Philharmonic. The performance was a resounding success, and Philip received critical acclaim for his virtuosic playing and sensitive interpretation. Over the years, Philip has continued to perform at major concert halls and festivals around the world, including the Royal Albert Hall in London, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, and the Salzburg Festival. He has collaborated with some of the world's leading conductors, including Daniel Barenboim, Simon Rattle, and Valery Gergiev, and has recorded several highly acclaimed albums for major record labels. In addition to his performing career, Philip is also a dedicated teacher and mentor. He has taught masterclasses at some of the world's leading music schools, including the Juilliard School, the Royal Academy of Music in London, and the Conservatoire de Paris. He is passionate about passing on his knowledge and experience to the next generation of musicians and is committed to promoting classical music to a wider audience. In 2012, he was awarded the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant, which recognizes outstanding young musicians who have the potential for major careers in music. He has also been awarded the Order of Arts and Letters by the French government and the Order of the Crown by the Belgian government, in recognition of his contributions to the arts.
