Dmitry Shostakovich's 'Preludes (8), Op. 2' is a collection of eight short piano pieces composed in 1922 when the composer was just 16 years old. The work was premiered by the composer himself in Leningrad on December 23, 1922. The eight preludes are each between one and three minutes in length and are written in a variety of keys and tempos.
