Ramona Zaharia is a Romanian classical music artist who has made a name for herself as a soprano singer. She was born on December 22, 1983, in the city of Iasi, Romania. Zaharia grew up in a family of musicians, and her parents were both music teachers. Her father was a conductor, and her mother was a pianist. Zaharia's parents recognized her talent for music at a young age and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. Zaharia began her music education at the age of six when she started taking piano lessons. She later started singing in the choir at her school and began taking voice lessons. Zaharia's talent for singing was evident from a young age, and she quickly became a standout performer in her school's choir. Zaharia continued her music education at the George Enescu National University of Arts in Iasi, where she studied voice under the guidance of Professor Maria Slatinaru-Nistor. Zaharia's career as a professional singer began in 2007 when she won the Grand Prix at the Hariclea Darclée International Voice Competition in Romania. In 2008, Zaharia made her debut at the Romanian National Opera in Iasi, where she performed the role of Mimi in Puccini's La Bohème. Her performance was well-received, and she was praised for her beautiful voice and emotional depth. Zaharia's international career took off in 2010 when she won the prestigious Operalia competition, founded by Plácido Domingo. This win brought her to the attention of opera houses and concert halls around the world, and she began receiving invitations to perform in major productions. One of Zaharia's most notable performances was in 2011 when she performed the role of Violetta in Verdi's La Traviata at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Italy. Her performance was highly praised, and she was hailed as one of the most promising young sopranos of her generation. Zaharia has also performed at other major opera houses, including the Royal Opera House in London, the Metropolitan Opera in New York, and the Paris Opera. She has worked with some of the most renowned conductors and directors in the world, including Riccardo Muti, Daniel Barenboim, and Robert Carsen. In addition to her opera performances, Zaharia is also a sought-after concert singer. She has performed in concerts and recitals around the world, including at the Salzburg Festival, the Edinburgh International Festival, and the BBC Proms.
