Nodu Mullick was a renowned classical music artist who was born in Kolkata, India in 1924. He was born into a family of musicians, and his father was a well-known tabla player. From a young age, Nodu showed a keen interest in music and began learning the sitar under the guidance of his father. As he grew older, Nodu's talent for music became more apparent, and he began to perform publicly. He quickly gained a reputation as a skilled sitar player, and his performances were highly sought after. In the 1950s, he began to tour internationally, performing in countries such as the United States, Canada, and Europe. One of the highlights of Nodu's career was his performance at the Edinburgh Festival in 1962. His performance was widely praised, and he was hailed as a master of the sitar. He continued to perform at major festivals and concerts throughout his career, including the Festival of India in London in 1982. Nodu was also a prolific composer, and he wrote many pieces for the sitar. His compositions were known for their intricate melodies and complex rhythms, and they were widely performed by other musicians. Throughout his career, Nodu received many awards and honors for his contributions to classical music. In 1971, he was awarded the Padma Shri, one of India's highest civilian honors. He was also awarded the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1982, and the Padma Bhushan in 1992. Despite his success, Nodu remained humble and dedicated to his craft. He continued to perform and teach until his death in 2006, leaving behind a legacy as one of the greatest sitar players of all time.
