Boston Brass is a classical music ensemble that has been entertaining audiences around the world for over 30 years. The group was founded in 1986 by six musicians who were all graduates of the prestigious Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York. The founding members were Jeff Conner and Jose Sibaja on trumpet, Sam Pilafian and Andrew Hitz on tuba, and Lance LaDuke and Scott Hartman on trombone. The ensemble quickly gained a reputation for their innovative and entertaining performances, which blended classical music with jazz, pop, and other genres. They also became known for their engaging stage presence and their ability to connect with audiences of all ages. Over the years, Boston Brass has performed at some of the world's most prestigious venues, including Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and the Sydney Opera House. They have also appeared with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the Boston Pops, the Philadelphia Orchestra, and the London Symphony Orchestra. In addition to their live performances, Boston Brass has released over 20 albums, including several that have been nominated for Grammy Awards. They have also collaborated with a wide range of artists, including jazz pianist Dave Brubeck, country singer Willie Nelson, and rock band Kansas. One of the highlights of Boston Brass's career was their performance at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia. The group was chosen to perform at the opening ceremonies, where they played a medley of patriotic songs that included "America the Beautiful" and "The Star-Spangled Banner." Another memorable performance was their appearance at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah. The group performed at the medal ceremonies for several events, including figure skating and speed skating. Boston Brass has also been recognized for their contributions to music education.
