Susan Longfield was born on May 15, 1985, in New York City. She grew up in a family of musicians, with both her parents being professional classical musicians. Her mother was a pianist, and her father was a cellist. From a young age, Susan was exposed to classical music and began playing the violin at the age of four. Susan's parents recognized her talent and enrolled her in the Juilliard School's Pre-College Division when she was just six years old. She studied under the renowned violinist Itzhak Perlman and quickly became one of his star pupils. Susan's talent and dedication to her craft were evident from a young age, and she quickly began to make a name for herself in the classical music world. As a teenager, Susan began to perform in major concert halls around the world. She made her debut at Carnegie Hall at the age of 16, performing the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto with the New York Philharmonic. The performance was a huge success, and Susan received a standing ovation from the audience. Over the next few years, Susan continued to perform in major concert halls around the world. She performed with some of the world's most renowned orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the Vienna Philharmonic. She also performed at major music festivals, including the Salzburg Festival and the BBC Proms. Susan's talent and dedication to her craft were recognized by the classical music world, and she received numerous awards and accolades throughout her career. In 2005, she was awarded the Avery Fisher Career Grant, which is one of the most prestigious awards in classical music. The album was a critical and commercial success, and it helped to establish Susan as one of the leading violinists of her generation. In addition to her performing career, Susan was also a dedicated teacher. She taught at the Juilliard School's Pre-College Division, where she had studied as a child. She was known for her ability to inspire and motivate her students, and many of them went on to have successful careers in classical music. Tragically, Susan's career was cut short when she was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer in 2012. Despite her illness, she continued to perform and teach, and she remained an inspiration to her colleagues and students. She passed away on June 10, 2014, at the age of 29. Susan Longfield's legacy lives on through her recordings and the many musicians she inspired and taught.
