Women's Voices of the Mendelssohn Club of Philadelphia is a classical music ensemble that has been captivating audiences with their stunning performances for over a century. The Mendelssohn Club of Philadelphia was founded in 1874 as a mixed chorus, and quickly gained a reputation for excellence in choral music. In 1901, a group of women within the Mendelssohn Club decided to form their own ensemble, which they named Women's Voices. The group was initially made up of 30 women, and was led by conductor William Wallace Gilchrist. Under Gilchrist's leadership, Women's Voices quickly established itself as a force to be reckoned with in the world of choral music. The group's repertoire included both classical and contemporary works, and they were known for their impeccable vocal technique and beautiful sound. Over the years, Women's Voices has performed at some of the most prestigious venues in the United States, including Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center. One of the highlights of Women's Voices' career came in 1986, when they were invited to perform at the White House for President Ronald Reagan and First Lady Nancy Reagan.
