Hans Haselböck is a renowned Austrian conductor, organist, and composer who has made significant contributions to the world of classical music. Born on March 12, 1939, in Vienna, Austria, Haselböck showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of six. He later studied organ and composition at the Vienna Academy of Music, where he graduated with honors. Haselböck's career as a musician began in the 1960s when he started performing as an organist in various churches and concert halls across Europe. He quickly gained recognition for his virtuosic playing and his ability to interpret complex works by composers such as Bach, Mozart, and Beethoven. In 1965, he won first prize at the International Organ Competition in Haarlem, Netherlands, which further cemented his reputation as a rising star in the classical music world. Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, Haselböck continued to perform as an organist and conductor, both in Austria and abroad. He was appointed the principal conductor of the Vienna Chamber Orchestra in 1978, a position he held for over a decade. During this time, he also served as the artistic director of the Vienna Festival, one of the most prestigious classical music festivals in the world. Haselböck's career reached new heights in the 1990s when he began conducting major orchestras such as the Berlin Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the New York Philharmonic. He also became a sought-after guest conductor for opera companies, including the Vienna State Opera, the Metropolitan Opera, and the Royal Opera House in London. One of the highlights of Haselböck's career was his appointment as the principal conductor of the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne in 2000. He held this position for six years and led the orchestra on numerous international tours and recordings. During his tenure, the orchestra received critical acclaim for its performances of works by Mozart, Haydn, and Schubert. In addition to his work as a conductor and organist, Haselböck is also a prolific composer.
