Scott Kluksdahl is a renowned cellist and professor of music at the University of South Florida. Born in 1961 in New York City, Kluksdahl began playing the cello at the age of six. He studied at the Juilliard School with Leonard Rose and Channing Robbins, and later at the New England Conservatory with Laurence Lesser. Kluksdahl's career as a soloist began in 1984 when he won the Concert Artists Guild International Competition. Since then, he has performed with major orchestras around the world, including the Boston Pops, the National Symphony Orchestra, the St. Petersburg Philharmonic, and the Tokyo Philharmonic. He has also been a featured soloist at numerous music festivals, including the Aspen Music Festival, the Tanglewood Music Festival, and the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival. In addition to his work as a soloist, Kluksdahl is also an accomplished chamber musician. He has performed with many of the world's leading chamber ensembles, including the Emerson String Quartet, the Guarneri String Quartet, and the Tokyo String Quartet. He has also collaborated with many of the world's leading pianists, including Menahem Pressler, Leon Fleisher, and Peter Serkin. Kluksdahl's recordings have received critical acclaim and have been featured on radio stations around the world. His recording of the complete cello works of Samuel Barber was named one of the top classical recordings of the year by The New York Times. He has also recorded the complete cello works of Ernest Bloch, as well as works by Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, and Schumann. In addition to his performing career, Kluksdahl is also a dedicated teacher. He has taught at the New England Conservatory, the University of Massachusetts, and the University of South Florida. He is currently a professor of music at the University of South Florida, where he teaches cello and chamber music. Kluksdahl has received numerous awards and honors throughout his career. In addition to his Concert Artists Guild International Competition win, he has also won the Naumburg International Cello Competition and the Grand Prix Emanuel Feuermann. He has been awarded the Avery Fisher Career Grant and the National Endowment for the Arts Solo Recitalist Fellowship. Kluksdahl is known for his passionate and expressive playing, as well as his dedication to the cello repertoire. He is a sought-after performer and teacher, and his contributions to the world of classical music have been significant.
