Aura Quartett is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2008 in Vienna, Austria. The quartet consists of four members: violinists Szabolcs Illés and Áron Selymes, violist Péter Kondor, and cellist László Fenyő. The ensemble has gained recognition for their unique sound and interpretation of classical music. The founding members of Aura Quartett met while studying at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. The name "Aura" was chosen to represent the group's desire to create a special atmosphere through their music. They have been invited to perform at prestigious venues such as the Konzerthaus in Vienna, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing. The quartet has also collaborated with renowned musicians such as pianist András Schiff and cellist Gautier Capuçon. One of the highlights of Aura Quartett's career was their performance at the 2012 Salzburg Festival. They were invited to perform as part of the "Young Artists" series, which showcases up-and-coming musicians. The quartet received critical acclaim for their performance of Beethoven's String Quartet No. 14 in C-sharp minor, Op. 131. In addition to their performances, Aura Quartett has also been recognized for their recordings. Their debut album, released in 2011, featured works by Haydn, Bartók, and Ligeti. The album received positive reviews and was nominated for the International Classical Music Awards. Another notable achievement for Aura Quartett was their win at the 2014 International Chamber Music Competition in Osaka, Japan. The quartet competed against ensembles from around the world and was awarded first prize. The competition judges praised Aura Quartett for their "outstanding musicality and technical skill." Aura Quartett's repertoire includes works from a variety of composers, ranging from the classical era to contemporary music.
