Born on January 12, 1948, in Stuttgart, Germany, Rinderspacher showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of six. His parents recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue his passion for music. Rinderspacher's musical education began at the Stuttgart Conservatory, where he studied piano under the tutelage of renowned pianist and composer, Carl Seemann. He later went on to study at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Stuttgart, where he received his diploma in piano performance. After completing his studies, Rinderspacher began his career as a concert pianist, performing in various venues across Europe. He quickly gained a reputation for his technical skill and musical sensitivity, and his performances were praised by critics and audiences alike. One of Rinderspacher's most significant performances was at the Salzburg Festival in 1972, where he performed Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5 with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. The performance was a resounding success, and Rinderspacher received a standing ovation from the audience. Over the course of his career, Rinderspacher performed with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the New York Philharmonic. He also collaborated with many renowned conductors, including Herbert von Karajan, Leonard Bernstein, and Claudio Abbado. In addition to his performances as a soloist, Rinderspacher was also an accomplished chamber musician. He frequently performed with other musicians, including violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter and cellist Yo-Yo Ma. Rinderspacher's recordings were also highly acclaimed, and he received numerous awards for his work. In 1983, he won a Grammy Award for Best Chamber Music Performance for his recording of Brahms' Piano Quartets with the Juilliard String Quartet. He also received the German Record Critics' Award and the Echo Klassik Award for his recordings. Throughout his career, Rinderspacher was known for his dedication to music education. He frequently gave masterclasses and workshops, and he was a professor of piano at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Stuttgart from 1980 until his retirement in 2010. Rinderspacher's contributions to the world of music were recognized with numerous honors and awards. In 1998, he was awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany for his contributions to music and music education. He was also awarded the Robert Schumann Prize by the city of Zwickau in 2008. Sadly, Rinderspacher passed away on June 15, 2015, at the age of 67. However, his legacy lives on through his recordings, his students, and the countless musicians he inspired throughout his career.
