Duo Bergerac is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2008 by two talented musicians, violinist David Bergeron and pianist Marie-Ève Bergeron. The duo has gained a reputation for their exceptional performances and their ability to captivate audiences with their unique sound and style. David Bergeron was born in Quebec City and began playing the violin at the age of four. He studied at the Conservatoire de musique de Québec and later at the Université de Montréal, where he earned a degree in violin performance. He has performed with numerous orchestras and ensembles throughout Canada and Europe, and has won several awards for his outstanding performances. Marie-Ève Bergeron was also born in Quebec City and began playing the piano at the age of six. She studied at the Conservatoire de musique de Québec and later at the Université de Montréal, where she earned a degree in piano performance. She has performed extensively throughout Canada and Europe, and has won several awards for her exceptional performances. The duo's name, Duo Bergerac, is a nod to the French town of Bergerac, which is known for its wine and its rich cultural heritage. The town is also home to the Château de Monbazillac, which is a beautiful castle that dates back to the 16th century. Duo Bergerac's repertoire includes a wide range of classical music, from Baroque to contemporary. They are known for their exceptional interpretations of works by composers such as Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, and Brahms, as well as their performances of lesser-known works by composers such as Ravel, Debussy, and Poulenc. One of the highlights of Duo Bergerac's career was their performance at the 2010 Montreal International Music Competition, where they won the Grand Prize and the Audience Prize. This prestigious competition is known for its rigorous selection process and attracts some of the world's most talented young musicians. Since then, Duo Bergerac has performed at numerous festivals and concert series throughout Canada and Europe, including the Festival de Lanaudière, the Ottawa Chamberfest, and the Festival de Musique de Saint-Barthélemy. They have also performed with several orchestras, including the Orchestre symphonique de Québec and the Orchestre Métropolitain. In addition to their performances, Duo Bergerac is also committed to music education and outreach. They have given masterclasses and workshops at several universities and conservatories, and have worked with young musicians through various outreach programs.
