Julian Armstrong is a renowned Canadian classical music composer, conductor, and pianist. Born on February 22, 1935, in London, England, Armstrong moved to Canada with her family in 1940. She began her musical journey at a young age, studying piano with her mother and later with Dorothy Allan Park. Armstrong went on to study at McGill University, where she earned a Bachelor of Music degree in 1956 and a Master of Music degree in 1960. Armstrong's career as a composer began in the 1960s, and she quickly gained recognition for her innovative and expressive works. Her compositions have been performed by numerous orchestras and ensembles, including the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, and the National Arts Centre Orchestra.
