Sinfonietta Riga is a classical music ensemble based in Riga, Latvia. The group was founded in 2006 by conductor Normunds Šnē and has since become one of the most prominent orchestras in the Baltic region. The ensemble began as a small group of musicians who shared a passion for classical music and a desire to create a unique sound. Under the leadership of Šnē, the group quickly grew in size and reputation, attracting some of the most talented musicians in the region. Sinfonietta Riga has performed at some of the most prestigious venues in the world, including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Royal Albert Hall in London, and the Berlin Philharmonic. Their album "Tchaikovsky: Symphony No. 5" was named "Best Classical Album" at the 2013 Latvian Music Awards, and their recording of "Shostakovich: Symphony No. 5" was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2015.
