The Rybin Choir Moscow is a classical music ensemble that has been captivating audiences with its stunning performances for over 50 years. Founded in 1968 by conductor and composer Alexander Rybin, the choir has become one of the most renowned vocal ensembles in Russia and around the world. Alexander Rybin was born in Moscow in 1930 and began his musical career as a pianist. He later studied choral conducting at the Moscow Conservatory and went on to become a professor of choral conducting at the Gnessin Institute. In 1968, Rybin founded the choir that would bear his name, with the goal of creating a world-class ensemble that would showcase the rich tradition of Russian choral music. The Rybin Choir Moscow is made up of 24 professional singers, all of whom are graduates of the top music conservatories in Russia. The ensemble's repertoire includes a wide range of music, from traditional Russian folk songs to classical choral works by composers such as Bach, Mozart, and Rachmaninoff. Over the years, the Rybin Choir Moscow has performed in some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Royal Albert Hall in London, and the Sydney Opera House in Australia. The ensemble has also collaborated with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the New York Philharmonic. One of the highlights of the Rybin Choir Moscow's career was its performance at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow. The choir performed at the opening ceremony, singing a stirring rendition of the Russian national anthem that brought the crowd to its feet. The performance was broadcast to millions of people around the world and helped to cement the choir's reputation as one of the finest vocal ensembles in the world. The Rybin Choir Moscow has also won numerous awards and accolades over the years. In 1972, the ensemble won first prize at the International Choral Competition in Arezzo, Italy, and in 1976, it won the Grand Prix at the International Choral Competition in Varna, Bulgaria. The choir has also been awarded the title of "Honored Ensemble of Russia" by the Russian government, in recognition of its contributions to the country's cultural heritage.
