Polina Gorshkova is a Russian classical pianist who has gained international recognition for her virtuosic performances and musical interpretations. Born on May 5, 1991, in Moscow, Gorshkova showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Her parents, both professional musicians, recognized her talent and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. Gorshkova's musical education began at the Central Music School of the Moscow Conservatory, where she studied with renowned pianist and pedagogue Natalia Trull. She later continued her studies at the Moscow Conservatory, where she received her bachelor's and master's degrees in piano performance under the guidance of Professor Vera Gornostaeva. During her studies, Gorshkova participated in numerous competitions and festivals, winning top prizes and awards. In 2007, she won first prize at the International Piano Competition in Memory of Emil Gilels, held in Odessa, Ukraine. She also won first prize at the International Piano Competition in Memory of Vladimir Horowitz, held in Kiev, Ukraine, in 2010. In 2011, she was awarded the Grand Prix at the International Piano Competition in Memory of Vera Lotar-Shevchenko, held in Moscow. Gorshkova's talent and dedication to music have led to numerous opportunities to perform in prestigious concert halls around the world. She has performed as a soloist with many orchestras, including the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra, the Russian National Orchestra, the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, and the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine. She has also given recitals in major concert halls, such as the Carnegie Hall in New York, the Royal Albert Hall in London, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the Salle Pleyel in Paris. One of Gorshkova's most notable performances was her debut at the Carnegie Hall in 2013, where she performed a program of works by Chopin, Rachmaninoff, and Prokofiev. The New York Times praised her performance, stating that "Ms. Gorshkova played with a sense of authority and a depth of feeling that belied her youth." In addition to her performances, Gorshkova is also a dedicated teacher and has given masterclasses in Russia, Europe, and the United States. She has also served as a jury member for several international piano competitions. Gorshkova's repertoire is diverse, ranging from Baroque to contemporary music. She has a particular affinity for the works of Chopin, Rachmaninoff, and Prokofiev, and has recorded several albums featuring their music.
