He was the son of a Jewish family who had immigrated to Argentina from Eastern Europe. Schneider's father was a violinist, and his mother was a pianist, which meant that he was exposed to music from a very young age. Schneider began playing the violin when he was just four years old, and by the time he was six, he was already performing in public. He continued to study the violin throughout his childhood and teenage years, and he eventually went on to study at the National Conservatory of Music in Buenos Aires. After completing his studies, Schneider began performing professionally as a violinist. He quickly gained a reputation as one of the most talented young musicians in Argentina, and he was soon invited to perform with some of the country's most prestigious orchestras. In 1950, Schneider decided to move to Europe to further his career. He settled in Paris, where he continued to perform as a soloist and as a member of various orchestras. He also began to study conducting, and he eventually became a highly respected conductor in his own right. Throughout his career, Schneider performed with some of the world's most renowned orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the Vienna Philharmonic, and the New York Philharmonic. He also performed at some of the world's most prestigious music festivals, including the Salzburg Festival and the Edinburgh Festival. One of Schneider's most memorable performances took place in 1962, when he performed the Brahms Violin Concerto with the Berlin Philharmonic under the direction of Herbert von Karajan. The performance was widely praised by critics, and it helped to cement Schneider's reputation as one of the world's greatest violinists. In addition to his work as a performer, Schneider was also a highly respected teacher. He taught at several music schools throughout his career, including the Juilliard School in New York and the Conservatoire de Paris. Schneider received numerous awards and honors throughout his career, including the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Legion of Honor from the French government. He was also awarded the National Prize for Music in Argentina in 1983. Despite his many accomplishments, Schneider remained humble and dedicated to his craft throughout his life. He continued to perform and teach until his death on January 22, 2010, at the age of 86. Today, Schneider is remembered as one of the greatest classical music artists of the 20th century. His virtuosic performances and dedication to his craft continue to inspire musicians and music lovers around the world.More....
