Kaltoft's career as a classical music artist began in the 1940s, when he started performing in concerts and recitals throughout Denmark. Throughout his career, Kaltoft was known for his technical skill and his ability to interpret complex musical compositions. He was particularly renowned for his performances of the works of Johann Sebastian Bach, Ludwig van Beethoven, and Frédéric Chopin.
