Stéphanos Thomopoulos is a renowned classical music artist who has made a significant contribution to the world of music. He was born on December 22, 1959, in Athens, Greece, to a family of musicians. His father, Georges Thomopoulos, was a renowned conductor, and his mother, Maria Kallas, was a famous opera singer. From a young age, Stéphanos was exposed to the world of music and developed a passion for it. Stéphanos began his musical education at the Athens Conservatory, where he studied piano and composition. He later moved to Paris, where he continued his studies at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris. He studied under the guidance of renowned pianists such as Aldo Ciccolini and Yvonne Loriod, and composers such as Olivier Messiaen and Iannis Xenakis. Stéphanos made his debut as a soloist in 1982, performing with the Athens State Orchestra. In 1985, he won the prestigious International Piano Competition in Leeds, UK, which marked a turning point in his career. He has also collaborated with many famous conductors, including Sir Simon Rattle, Zubin Mehta, and Daniel Barenboim. Stéphanos has an extensive repertoire that includes works by classical composers such as Beethoven, Mozart, and Chopin, as well as contemporary composers such as Messiaen and Xenakis. He is known for his exceptional technique, musicality, and ability to bring out the nuances of each piece he performs. In addition to his performances, Stéphanos is also a respected teacher and has taught at several prestigious music schools, including the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris and the Royal Academy of Music in London.
