Elisabeth Popien was born on May 5, 1985, in Berlin, Germany. She grew up in a family of musicians, with her mother being a pianist and her father a cellist. From a young age, Popien showed a natural talent for music and began playing the violin at the age of four. Popien's parents recognized her talent and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. She began taking lessons with renowned violin teachers in Germany and quickly gained recognition for her exceptional talent. At the age of 12, she won first prize in the Jugend musiziert competition, a prestigious music competition for young musicians in Germany. Popien continued to excel in her studies and went on to study at the Hanns Eisler School of Music in Berlin. She studied under the guidance of renowned violinist Ulf Hoelscher and graduated with honors in 2007. After completing her studies, Popien began performing professionally and quickly gained recognition for her exceptional talent. She has performed with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the New York Philharmonic. One of Popien's most notable performances was her debut with the Berlin Philharmonic in 2010. She performed the Brahms Violin Concerto under the baton of Sir Simon Rattle, receiving critical acclaim for her performance. The following year, she made her debut with the London Symphony Orchestra, performing the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto. Popien has also been recognized for her exceptional talent with numerous awards and honors. In 2012, she was awarded the prestigious Echo Klassik award for her recording of the Brahms Violin Concerto. She has also been awarded the German Music Prize and the Berlin Culture Prize. In addition to her performing career, Popien is also a dedicated teacher. She has taught at the Hanns Eisler School of Music and the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. She is also a frequent guest teacher at music festivals and masterclasses around the world. Popien is known for her exceptional technique and musicality, as well as her ability to connect with audiences through her performances. She is considered one of the leading violinists of her generation and continues to inspire audiences around the world with her performances.
