David Bowlin is a renowned classical music artist who has made a name for himself as a violinist, chamber musician, and educator. Born in 1982 in New York City, Bowlin grew up in a family of musicians and was exposed to classical music from a young age. His father, a pianist, and his mother, a cellist, both played in the New York Philharmonic, and Bowlin began playing the violin at the age of four. Bowlin's talent was evident from an early age, and he quickly became a sought-after performer. He studied at the Juilliard School, where he earned his Bachelor's and Master's degrees, and later at the Curtis Institute of Music, where he received his Artist Diploma. He also studied with renowned violinists such as Itzhak Perlman, Donald Weilerstein, and Robert Mann. Throughout his career, Bowlin has performed with some of the world's most prestigious orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic. He has also collaborated with many of the leading conductors of our time, including Alan Gilbert, Michael Tilson Thomas, and Esa-Pekka Salonen. One of Bowlin's most notable performances was his debut with the New York Philharmonic in 2004, where he performed the Brahms Violin Concerto under the baton of Lorin Maazel. The performance was widely praised, with The New York Times calling Bowlin's playing "virtuosic and deeply expressive." In addition to his work as a soloist, Bowlin is also an accomplished chamber musician. He has performed with many of the world's leading chamber ensembles, including the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, the Brentano String Quartet, and the Daedalus Quartet. He is also a founding member of the International Contemporary Ensemble, a group dedicated to performing and promoting new music. Bowlin's dedication to new music has earned him numerous awards and accolades. In 2007, he was awarded the Avery Fisher Career Grant, one of the most prestigious awards for young classical musicians. He has also been a recipient of the Chamber Music America/ASCAP Award for Adventurous Programming and the Copland House Residency Award. In addition to his performing career, Bowlin is also an active educator.
