She studied under some of the most renowned piano teachers in France, including Yvonne Lefébure and Pierre Sancan. Collard's career as a professional musician began in the early 1960s when she won several prestigious piano competitions. In 1961, she won the first prize at the International Piano Competition in Geneva, Switzerland. These victories brought Collard to the attention of the international music community, and she began to receive invitations to perform in concerts and recitals around the world.
