The trio consists of Lucy Gould on violin, Alice Neary on cello, and Benjamin Frith on piano. They have been praised for their technical skill, musicality, and ability to bring new life to classical works. The trio was formed in 1992, when Lucy Gould and Benjamin Frith were studying at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, England. They were joined by Alice Neary, who was studying at the Royal Academy of Music in London. The trio quickly gained recognition for their performances, winning the Royal Overseas League Competition in 1993 and the Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition in 1997. Since then, the Gould Piano Trio has performed in some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including the Wigmore Hall in London, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, and Carnegie Hall in New York. They have also collaborated with some of the world's leading musicians, including clarinetist Michael Collins and violist Lawrence Power. One of the highlights of the Gould Piano Trio's career was their performance of Beethoven's complete piano trios at the Wigmore Hall in 2008. The trio performed all 10 of Beethoven's piano trios over the course of five concerts, receiving critical acclaim for their interpretation of these iconic works. The trio has also recorded several albums, including a complete set of Beethoven's piano trios, which was released in 2011. In addition to their performances, the Gould Piano Trio is also committed to music education. They have worked with young musicians through the Pro Corda Trust, a music education charity, and have given masterclasses at universities and conservatories around the world. The Gould Piano Trio has received numerous awards and accolades throughout their career. In addition to their competition wins, they have been nominated for several Gramophone Awards and have been named BBC Radio 3's "Ensemble in Residence." They were also awarded the Royal Philharmonic Society's "Chamber Music Award" in 2013. Despite their success, the Gould Piano Trio remains dedicated to their craft and to bringing classical music to new audiences. They continue to perform around the world and to inspire young musicians through their teaching and mentorship.More....
