Artist Info
Baltic Baroque is a classical music ensemble that specializes in performing Baroque music from the Baltic region. The ensemble was founded in 2007 by a group of musicians who shared a passion for this type of music and wanted to bring it to a wider audience. The main members of the ensemble are all highly skilled musicians who have studied at some of the most prestigious music schools in Europe. They include violinists Kristina Krievane and Guntars Pranis, cellist Girts Grivins, and harpsichordist Aigars Reinis. Over the years, the ensemble has also collaborated with a number of guest musicians, including singers and instrumentalists. One of the highlights of Baltic Baroque's career was their performance at the 2010 Gaida Festival in Vilnius, Lithuania. The festival is one of the most important contemporary music events in the Baltic region, and the ensemble was honored to be invited to perform there. They received rave reviews for their performance, which included works by composers such as Georg Philipp Telemann and Johann Sebastian Bach. Another major performance for the ensemble was their appearance at the 2012 Early Music Festival in Riga, Latvia. This festival is dedicated to the performance of early music, and Baltic Baroque was one of the featured ensembles. They performed a program of music by Baltic composers, including works by Johann Heinrich Schmelzer and Johann Rosenmüller. In addition to their live performances, Baltic Baroque has also released several recordings. Their debut album, "Baltic Baroque," was released in 2009 and features works by Baltic composers such as Johann Joachim Quantz and Johann Gottfried Müthel. The album received critical acclaim and helped to establish the ensemble as one of the leading interpreters of Baroque music from the Baltic region. Over the years, Baltic Baroque has received numerous awards and accolades for their performances and recordings. In 2011, they were awarded the Latvian Great Music Award for their contributions to the promotion of Latvian music. They have also been recognized by the Latvian Ministry of Culture for their work in promoting cultural exchange between the Baltic countries. Despite their success, the members of Baltic Baroque remain committed to their mission of bringing Baroque music from the Baltic region to a wider audience. They continue to perform regularly throughout Europe and have plans to expand their repertoire to include music from other regions as well. With their passion for this music and their exceptional musicianship, Baltic Baroque is sure to remain a leading ensemble in the world of early music for years to come.More....
